Help Orphans

The orphanage not only facilitates the deprived children but also helps the needy on a case to case basis. Helping such children is not the responsibility of one individual or of an organisation, each one of us is equally responsible. There are multiple ideas for you to assist and support the orphanage like :

  • Children's clothing
  • Personal hygiene products
  • Medical supplies (like band-aids, gauze, tape, scissors)
  • Bedding (like quilts, sheets, blankets, pillows)
  • Stationary items
  • Provide financial support and humanitarian aid
  • Academic opportunities & life training skills
  • Mentoring a child
  • Helping the organisation raise funds
  • Working on voluntarily basis etc
  • Leaving orphans on society's mercy is equal to making them a victim of low self esteem, with feeling of deprivation that may further lead them towards beggary or theft. On the other hand, providing them equal opportunities especially in education would help them shine brighter. Who knows how many of them may become successful ustazs and imams or scientists, doctors, engineers, etc. playing positive role towards the country's economy and well being.

Help Rumah Aman in achieving its dream of lifting up the deprived ones to an elevated level, where such children would not only achieve a respectable living for themselves but would also be a source of inspiration and support for their whole family.

    Education

Quality education is the main focus of Rumah Aman for the children. There is a Malay saying "Membentuk aur biarlah dari rebung" which can be literally translated as "To bend a bamboo, begin from the shoot". This is the basis why Rumah Aman enrolled children from the age of three to six years old into the orphanage and welfare home. Rumah Aman's education programme is a continuous learning of life skills based on the Quran and the Sunna of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) and integrated with the knowledge of the time. This continuous learning is for all who are with Rumah Aman whether permanent staffs or volunteers because they will be the role models for the children to follow as the maxim goes "children copy adults". This pattern of learning is paramount because only then the children will have a strong foundation in the Deen of Islam as well as a basis for them to be victorious in this world and in the Hereafter.

The education programme of Rumah Aman is called I-SMART.

I-SMART : The teaching of Islam is integral in everything that we do, therefore the children will be instructed in its foundations to help them understand its importance and with that inculcates good habits, strengthens their good character, and personalities, insya-Allah. The I-SMART inculcates values based on the Islamic teachings of Iman, Solat, Muhasabah, Accountabilty, Responsibility and Taqwa as living skills for the children under its care and becomes a reference guide to the teachers, staffs and volunteers who are involved with Rumah Aman. It is hoped that with these living skills, the children will grow and mature into adults who has fear and love of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and love of the Rasul sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) so that they will have the goodness of this world and victory in the Hereafter, insha-Allah. The I-SMART gives priority to teaching good adab (courteous behaviour) within the ambit of ibadah and social behaviour and with that patterning, instil good character and strong personalities so that they may later serve society in the best of their abilities for the pleasure of Allah.

I-SMART is an acronym for :

IMAN – As stated in the Pillars of Iman, is the believe in Allah, in the Prophets, in the Angels, in the Kitabs (Books), in Qada and Qadar and in the Day of Judgement. It also teaches the Muslims about the ghaib (unseen world) and of taqwa.

SOLAT – The pillar of Ibadah and the reference for good adab. Making wudhu is a practice of being clean always and a reminder of preferred order. With solat comes the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala the discipline of keeping time and the importance to lead and to follow with correct knowledge.

MUHASABAH – Is the practice of correcting oneself continuously and consistently as man is not perfect by taking on the behaviour of the Rasul sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) and guidance from the Quran.

ACCOUNTABILITY – Is the preferred right actions with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and with mankind. All actions either right or wrong have a cause and effect that will be attributed to the doer; therefore the doer must have a clear mind and clear understanding of his/her intentions and actions.

RESPONSIBILITY – Is the awareness that man is the Khalifah of Allah. Man is using borrowed attributes of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala therefore all decisions and actions which impinge on the lives of all living creatures must be for the pleasure of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and within His guided parameters.

TAQWA – Awe or fear of Allah which inspires a person to be on guard against wrong actions and eager for actions which pleases Him.
